1. World Hunger: A 10 percent reduction in our meat consumption could feed every man, woman, and child on earth. It takes up to 16 pounds of grain to produce 1 pound of meat.

2. The Water Crisis: A pound of beef requires over 5000 gallons of water to produce, compared to the 26 gallons of…

Subcomandante Marcos of the EZLN (Zapatista Army of National Liberation) talks about the alternatives to living a life controlled by mass media.

This man talks like him, but I don’t see his green eyes. I always think it’s a possibility he could be having someone else pose as him. The movement officially has no leader, so it would make sense.

In any case, I think the mask is a fantastic leveling mechanism, allowing the movement to have no official leader while still offering it some organization. Don’t think the mask thing would be taken too seriously here in the US if say, Occupy, used it. But still, I dig it. And he’s got some great things to say.

If you haven’t heard of Marcos or the EZLN, I strongly suggest you look it up. They were occupying cities in Mexico long before it started in the US.

HORRENDOUS reaction of police at the scene of Occupy UC Davis. A friend of mine was present at this protest. Nonchalant use of wild amounts of pepper spray on peaceful protesters sitting on the ground of the school they pay thousands of dollars a year for. Great to see American tax dollars at work?

Despite the arrests and the pepper spray, the event actually ended in a pretty nice victory for protesters, who were able to peacefully coerce the cops to leave the quad. Great job guys =]

new blog =]

So, since I’ve been getting into the Occupy movement recently, I’ve been posting way too much of the stuff on Facebook. So I’ve started another blog that will keep updates on the movement.

Also, been getting into organic/vegan/environmentally-friendly/less-corporate-controlled living lately, so I’ll also be posting information on that stuff for anyone who’s curious about it.

So, for the whooping 15 of you who actually follow me, if anyone is the least bit interested check out the new tumblr. Maybe I’ll even post some cute pictures of cats now and then.
